Color Schemes for Your Apple Kitchen

In May, we are going to be talking about color schemes to work with for your apple-themed kitchen. The world of apples has so many delightful colors to work with. We typically think of red, but you don’t have to stop there. Apples come in many shades of red, green and yellow. Look at Gala or Fuji apples and you can see them all in a single piece of fruit.

Creating An Apple Kitchen shows you how to work with the color combinations of apples. It’s a must read for those of you ready to do some redecorating. Even if you aren’t planning to work up a whole new look to your kitchen, you can see great ideas for matching color schemes.

The easiest, and for our money and budget, the best way to start is to pick a single color that attracts you. We’ll use red to show this example. The red shade we have in mind is more of a dark red – almost a burgundy color. Look at the picture here and see that dark red look. Many shades of color will go well with it, including brown.

With this dark red as our starting point, we then go to accent colors. Our example will be yellow. A bolder, or contrasting accent color adds a bright focal point and brings your look to life. We use a golden yellow hue to compliment the deep red without clashing with it. As you can see with this picture, the golden yellow apple stands out among the darker red apples, but doesn’t create a pain to the eyes.

In our next article, we are going to be looking at the greens and what you can do with those. So stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy working with the colors in your Apple Kitchen.
